Learn to Swim Program
Children join the Learn to Swim Program from 4 years of age. Swimmers may need to participate in a free assessment before beginning swimming lessons in an appropriate class. Brand new, frightened or novice swimmers will not need an assessment as they will be place in our beginner level class. Our assessments usually take between 5 -10 minutes and help us place swimmers in an appropriate class. Swimmers are grouped according to ability – there may be a variety of age groups within a learn to swim lesson.
We use a building block approach to teach children to swim. Floating is the basis of all learn to swim. We use swimming drills and activities to break down each swimming stroke. Our aim is to develop a natural, relaxed and efficient stoke to last a lifetime.
There are several levels within the Learn to Swim Program. On completion of the learn to swim program children move into a Transition class to prepare them for Squad swimming.
